Tips on Proper Sofa Cleaning
Sofa cleaning is a not really a tedious task. Today, many people are buying furniture pieces that are made out of beautiful microfibers. These are sofas that are lightweight, durable and simply stunning to look at. As compared to ordinary leather sofas, microfibers are able to absorb colors more, thus producing a much more detailed look.
If you have kids, then you are no stranger to spills and greasy hands. If you have pets, then cleaning up poop and fur is also a natural thing for you. But, what if your shiny new sofa set is all covered in dirt and grime? What do you do and where do you start?
Actually, there are a few simple steps that you can take to ensure that the furniture that you bought stays as shiny and clean as the day you purchased it.
The first thing to do after buying a brand new microfiber couch is to read the tags. There are sofa cleaning instructions there that will guide you on how to handle the maintenance of the sofa and what you should avoid. Follow to the letter these guidelines and you can be sure that the furniture will be okay.
Sofa cleaning isn’t complete unless you vacuum the microfiber. This will keep the sofa free from dirt, pet hairs and other debris. Do this often and you will never have to worry about allergic reactions from fur and other substances.
If in the case of accidental spills, the first aid in sofa cleaning is to blot it out quickly with a dry cloth. This will ensure that the stain will not spread and you will be able to pick up any residue that can harm your sofa. Be careful not to rub it since this will damage the fiber and hasten the absorption of the spills.
For hard to remove stains, you can try dissolving some detergent with water. This will soften the texture of the spill making it easier to remove. But, be careful not to use bleach as this will discolor the fabric and can give you a very ugly sofa. Again, never rub it hard. Just a gentle and light rub will do.
If all else fails, then it can’t hurt to bring in a professional cleaner. Although it may cost you a decent amount of cash, at least you don’t have to buy a new sofa.
For some, sofa cleaning is something that they opt to leave to professionals. But, little do they now that there are some cleaning that they can they do on their own.
